I bought this out of necessity, not because I need, want, or even like smart devices. I live next door to a very large military base. The Military owns the frequency that garage door and automobile remotes operate on. About 4 years ago or so they started using this frequency and when they do, when you live as close as I do, everything that uses a remote stops working. When it first started I thought something was wrong with my opener. I extended the antenna to the outside, no help. I changed the control board, no help. Finally I realized what was happening. Garage door manufactures do next to nothing to get around this issue. They want to sell you a new opener but won’t guarantee it will work. My opener is less than 10 years old. Anyway, the Military use of this frequency is becoming more and more common. When I finally purchased this device, I hadn’t been able to open my garage door for over a month. Of course it started working a day before this arrived. So this is for those times when my regular garage door remotes won’t work so I’ll always be able to get into my garage. The kit comes with pretty much everything you could possibly need to install it. Mounting it to the opener is easy with the double sided tape provided. The hardest part, for me was figuring out how to mount the sensor that determines when the door is open or closed. The good thing is you can have a pretty wide gap between the switch and the magnet. I suggest when you first get this device, you download the app, plug in the device and set it up in the app before doing anything else. Then lay the switch on a flat surface and move the magnet slowly towards it while watching in the app to see when it senses the door is closed. This will give a good sense of how far the magnet can be from the switch which will help you when mounting it to the door. Do is a couple of times to make sure. From here, installation is easy. Just mount the unit to you door opener, connect the 2 wires to it. Plug it in and run the sensor to the door. That’s it. Simple. I wouldn’t think it would take anyone more than 30 minutes to install this including securing all the wiring and making sure the installation is clean. The app is pretty straight forward and has lots of options for setting up smart features which I’m not going to go into. They have plenty of very good videos to help you install and setup the app. The only smart feature I use and that makes sense to me is using GEO fencing to open the garage door when you arrive home. This is a nice feature and works perfectly. I’m sure a lot of you will find a lot of the features useful for you. That’s a bonus, for me, it’s just so I can open my garage door when the Military is jamming the signal. It’s a good product, works as it’s supposed to, easy to install, and a lot of support videos. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I was skeptical about purchasing this device, it sounded too good to be true. low price, easy install, works great and positive feedback. I decided if I did not like it I could return it. When I received the device and opened the package I was afraid my initial fears had been realized. There were so many parts and pieces in the container I knew it had to be complicated. Turns out it was not. All the parts and pieces were provided so no matter how your particular garage door and opener were setup you had everything you need to install it correctly. Paper instructions were provided, too small for my old eyes, so I used my computer and checked out the website that was provided in the instructions. Once there I found videos giving me step by step instructions. Before purchasing I went to the website to make sure my current garage door opener was compatible, it was. This page confirmed I did not need any additional adapters and it even told me where to connect the two wires from the WiFi Opener to my Garage door opener, that’s correct only two simple wires and you are 75% done. You also have to plug the WiFi opener into a power outlet, since I installed my opener on the top of my Garage door opener I just plugged it into the same outlet. After that I simply ran the switch cable over the top of my track, used the supplied adapter to attach the switch to the wall and the magnet to the garage door. This allows you to know when your door has been opened and closed, even if it is open or closed manually. I should note that before I started the physical install I Installed the application on my phone, plugged the WiFi opener in a power source and set everything up on my home network. When you do this you can test that the open/close notifications are working by simply placing the magnet close to and then moving it away from the switch. What are all those extra pieces you may ask. They are screws, nuts, bolts, tie straps, double sided tape, and a couple different cable management options, you will only need to use what works best for your setup. The most important thing is it works as advertised.

I chose this controller because 1) it’s compatible with Alexa and 2) it utilizes a hard-wired sensor to detect if the garage is open or closed. The installation instructions were very thorough…so much so that they provided links to videos to walk you through the install from start to finish! It was super easy to follow along. You can select different notifications, to include open door notifications. Great concecpt but not so great when we are working outside and want the garage door open. I wasn’t able to adjust when to notify the garage door was left open, so I turned it off. It was a little tricky getting it to work with Alexa only because I already had a device with the name “garage” in it. It was more of an Alexa issue than the product itself. I figured it out and now I can ask if the garage door is open and close it from my room!

I’m thoroughly impressed with this wireless garage opener! It’s been a seamless addition to my smart home setup, and integration with Siri has made controlling my garage door effortless. However, I did encounter a minor issue during installation. The magnets for the detector weren’t quite close enough, preventing proper alignment. A quick fix with some hot glue and a small piece of wood solved the problem, ensuring a snug fit.Aside from this minor adjustment, the opener has performed flawlessly. Its wireless design and sleek appearance have streamlined my garage’s look while enhancing functionality. If you’re in the market for a reliable and innovative garage opener, I highly recommend this product. Just be prepared for a possible minor adjustment, and you’ll be enjoying the convenience of smart garage control in no time!

We previously had a MyQ smart garage door adapter. It worked well, but for some reason stopped being able to get a wireless signal. So I started looking for a replacement. I settled on this model based on the reviews and the company being in the US. My garage door opener requires the free wireless adapter, which I requested from the company as soon as I placed my Amazon order. Their response time was phenomenal and the adapter arrived the same day as the opener. Installation was easier than I expected and it works great. Every now and again it doesn’t open or close on the first try, but overall it’s very responsive. And I like that we can pair it with Alexa and open or close the garage door by voice.

January 2023, I have a 10 year old Chamberlain MyQ door opener.Works great and no where near obsolescence.Battery backed up type, with the dreaded ‘yellow’ learn button.I wanted to have better control and monitoring of the door, so I looked into WiFi connected upgrades.Chamberlain was ignorant and unsupportive as to their upgrade for this model opener…they could not give me a yes or no if it would work. So I kept on looking at the various make and models of WiFi interfaces available. The awesome power of the Amazon…Then I came across eKyro. At first I was suspicious of the low cost, but at least they EXPLAINED the differences between opener brands/models, and how their WiFi control module can work with almost any of them. They also, and more importantly, have a website that actively aids in determining if their module will work with your model opener, and offer an adapter to make pretty much any model opener work with their control module. Note that the adapter (at this time of writing) is FREE -if you need it for your particular make/model/vintage door opener. You must request it via their website and submit your amazon order # to get it.The usual quick delivery of both items, although the adapter was direct from eKyro -and free shipping.InstallationAmerican English instructions and fairly well documented (text and pictorial) in the included paperwork, but also on Utube.Simple install. It took me longer to install the door open/closed sensor, than to wire the module to the door opener. I struggled with the app on my iPhone 6 getting it to WiFi pair to my local network, but it was because I was dense, not due to eKyro.Curiously, before I started the install, eKyro contacted me via amazon to ask how the install was going.I admitted stupidity and they kindly directed me to the ‘alternate’ method and utube tutorials.Kudos due because that kind of after sale support is rare these days.Shortly after that I completed the install, pairing/functional testing of the system, but only after some careful technical review, I realized the mistakes I made and got everything going.I am tech savvy…shame on me.Your mileage may vary, but eKyro will actively help you through any difficulty. The appSimple download/install. A little funky navigating within but I guess that is an extension of the programmer(s). The app is capable of operating numerous IoT gadgets. Long list…I suppose that it great for the future.I will not be using it with siri, alexa or other AI stuff, so I cannot comment on that.Flexible/configurable. I dont know yet if it tries to connect with servers in China or elsewhere.Overall, a very positive experience. I hope this stuff lasts the test of time.Dependability and durability is the name of this game.Judging from the innards of the adapter module, I can say the electronics are of high quality and workmaship.Excellent value! On a skill scale of 1 to 10 to integrate to your system(s) a 4.

The eKyro garage door opener is fairly easy to install and use with the Smart Life app. I ran into a roadblock because my Overhead garage door opener is very very old and does not have a learn button. You have to press the manual garage door opener button twice to actually open it (first press is lights). Hooking up the eKyro smart opener to the same screws as the manual button on the garage door opener would only turn on the lights. I asked eKyro for some help, and they sent me instructions to set up a tap-to-run scene in the SmartLife app where the button is pressed, wait 2 seconds, and press it again. It works just great, and now i can be sure the garage door is closed, and open it remotely. I’m so glad i asked for help instead of just sending it back.

I purchased the eKyro Smart Garage Door Opener partly because the eKyro website provides extensive information before you buy, including an easy compatibility check and detailed installation information. That thoughtful, customer-oriented approach was evident at every step of my experience with eKyro. The eKyro arrived well packaged and includes a range of installation hardware (double sided tape, screws, bolts, zip ties) to accommodate different circumstances. I had to deviate from the routine setup because my garage has a very high ceiling and I was able to adapt using the included hardware.I generally prefer written manuals to videos but the videos on the eKyro website are the best I’ve seen: concise, easy to understand and just the right length. There are separate videos for checking compatibility, configuring the Smart Life app, connecting the eKyro to the door opener motor, connecting the sensor, and setting up voice control with either Alexa, Google Home, or Siri. Installation took a little over an hour from start to finish (from viewing the videos to personalizing the settings). The eKyro connected to my Orbi mesh Wi-Fi network flawlessly, instantly finding the 2.4 GHz band (a problem for some ‘smart’ devices). All I had to do was enter my Wi-Fi password to connect the eKyro. Setting up voice control with Google Home (no hub required) went smoothly and works well – you can use voice control or the Google Home app, as well as the Smart Life app, to open or close the door and to check if the door is closed. I also was able to connect to Siri on my Apple devices for the open/close function (status check is not available with Siri). You also can schedule closed door checks (to get notified if the door was left open), set a timer to close the door a set time after it’s opened, or schedule the door to close at a specific time of day. Opening the door with voice control requires you to say a four digit PIN to prevent burglars from shouting “Hey Google….” through a window to open your door! The eKyro has a wired open/closed door sensor – although this makes installation slightly more difficult, it has two key advantages: 1) there are no sensor batteries to change, and 2) the sensor is reliable – if the eKyro says the door is closed you know the door is closed. While researching smart openers I noticed that those with wireless open/closed sensors, or those that use a camera to determine sense if the door is closed, all had at least one review mentioning false reports that the door was closed when it wasn’t, a security concern that defeats a key purpose of a smart opener – being able to check if the door is closed when you can’t see it.Overall the eKyro is a very well thought out product that works very well. I highly recommend it.

The remote to my garage door opener hasn’t worked in years. Finally getting around to dealing with it, I first searched for the parts to fix it before I found this brilliant device. The eKyro Smart Garage Door Opener was cheaper than replacing the receiver and is so much more convenient to use. Also shared the device (through the app) with my adult children in case they ever need access to the house when we aren’t home. Connecting it to my wifi network was super easy, thanks to the seamless integration with the app. eKyro provides videos to walk you through the installation process, which I found super helpful as the printing in the manual is very small and hard to read. Installation was fairly easy, though it requires some time on a step ladder. In addition to a ladder, for a typical installation you will need a screw driver, wire strippers and possibly a hammer. The only difficulty I had was enabling it for voice commands using Siri. The FAQ’s in the app provide incomplete or possibly obsolete instructions. Still trying to figure that out.

I’ve been researching Alexa enable garage door keypads, new garage door units (very expensive) and other means to enable Alex to open/close our single and double bay garage doors. Our garage door openers are older Overhead Door Legacy 650 models. I saw the eKyro unit in my amazon searches and read a bit more. Many good reviews but was uncertain if my old garage door openers were compatible. The eKyro website is fantastic with detailed installation videos and the “compatibility checker.” I plugged my Overhead Door 650 into the drop downs and it came back “compatible” and displayed a schematic of where the eKyro wires connected to my garage door opener. I was nervous as the wire colors didn’t match but double checked the wiring on the Overhead Door website as well.Step One of actual installation was me downloading the Smart Life APP and creating an account. I watched a video on the eKyro website on how to enable the Smart Life Skill in Alexa and link my account. I then went out to the garage and got started by applying the double stick tape to the unit, unplugged the overhead door power, connected the 2 wires to the garage wall opener wires and plugged in the unit. This is followed by programming the unit by holding down the black reset button until the red light flashes quickly. At this point I was able to use the Smart Life app to discover the device and named it “Single Bay.”I had yet to connect the magnetic sensor but was eager to ensure I’d wired it correctly so I restored power to the Overhead door 650 and used the Smart Life app to open the door. Voila! Couldn’t have been easier. I then began the more time consuming task of running the sensor wire to the wall and mounting the garage door sensor close enough to be sensed properly. This required drilling a small screw pilot hole in the top of the garage door where the traveling magnet would be mounted. Not a big deal, just time consuming. The eKyro immediately sensed the connections and could then detect if the door was open or closed in the app, which is so very nice!ALEX VOICE CONTROL TIP:As I mentioned in the headline, my goal was Alexa compatibility. I followed the video for Alexa on the eKyro website and thought I had voice enabled in the Alexa app and created a matching pin in the Smart Life app and Alexa app. All seemed well and the device was discovered by Alexa when the smart skill was enabled, but when I asked alexa to “open the single bay,” it would properly ask for the voice code, then in a couple of seconds indicate the door was open, but nothing happened :(. I couldn’t find any tips or tricks on the eKyro website but there is a broken pop up link that seems to have something to do with this. The simple but not obvious fix I found was to follow eKyro instructions and then TAKE THE EXTRA STEP OF going into the Smart Life app, clicking on the device as showing in picture 1. You’ll see that even though I enabled voice control in the app on the home page and in Alexa app, the device itself has a voice control button that is toggled off by default. I simply toggled that on and “boom” Alexa is working.I am absolutely thrilled and impressed with this product and their website so far. I can’t believe I was able to Alexa enable my old garage door opener for $40 and a little time on a ladder. Outstanding product!
