So I’m kind of new to the amazon device family. We just got our echo a few months ago. I’ve been a prime member for over 10 years so I’m familiar with how amazon has changed life as we knew it (for me anyway). I saw the amazon smart plug when I was searching for any brand smart plug that had Alexa control with it. It’s been in my cart saved for later for at least a month! I finally decided to just pre order it so that I could review it and hopefully help other people that are like me and have fallen way behind in the tech field. For reference I’m an almost 34 year old mom of 2. This means that my 8 year old stole my iPad, iMac, and I haven’t had a computer of my own in about 4 years! So I do everything from my iPhone. I’ve had some weird issues with our echo and my Alexa app that it will just randomly pause a song so I’m not sure what that is about.ANYWAY! I received my new amazon smart plug the day it was released (so glad it’s not like a new iPhone or PlayStation where people camp out ahead of time or do people still do this??). It was easier than I expected but harder than was described in the listing because my Alexa didn’t just recognize it.Setup:Since my Alexa didn’t recognize it on its own, I had to unplug the smart plug and quickly scan the code on the back of the plug, then plug it back in fast so that when it scanned for it it would see it plugged in. After that it was very simple. I was able to plug in my baby monitor and then tell Alexa to “turn off plug one” and it turned off! It is so cool!Future:I think homes will end up being built with these right into the electrical system. Maybe they already are.Comparing:With so many different brands offering smart plugs with Alexa integration I can’t see myself buying any more than 1 for $25. Too many are 2 for $20. While it’s nice to have the amazon support backing this up, I just can’t afford to fill my home with them at such a high cost comparative to other brands that do the same exact thing.Overall:If you can afford to fill your plugs with these then do! This smart plug is easy and awesome! But if you’re on a tight budget like I am, I would try a different brand first and see if those will work just as well.Every time I purchase something online, I always check the reviews. I count on others to help me choose the best option. My reviews are always my honest opinion and I try to include photos if possible. If my review has helped you in any way, please click the “helpful” button below so that I know! I love these little things! Perfectly compatible with the Alexa devices and they work flawlessly. They’re a really good value as well. These are very handy to have and idiot proof to set up. There’s papers inside the box so don’t rip the box open like an animal. All you have to do is scan the QR code on the paper inside with your phone’s camera. Make sure you scan the paper inside the box and NOT the plug itself. It will never find it otherwise. If it’s not finding it then just hold down the little button on the side of the plug and wait until you see the light change to orange and release your finger when it goes back blue. It should pick up your WiFi right away. At least it did for me.

The Amazon Smart Plug is a solid addition to my Alexa-powered home. Setting it up was straightforward—just plug it in, open the Alexa app, and you’re good to go. It integrates seamlessly with Alexa, allowing me to control devices with voice commands. I’ve got one hooked up to my fan and super convenient to schedule them on and off.

I replaced another brand smart plug with this one and it worked perfectly. There was no issue connecting to our wifi and Alexa or pairing with the lamps. I’ll likely buy another one to replace another smart plug that randomly goes offline. Great value for the price. Easy setup.

Amazon Smart Plug has been a fantastic addition to my Alexa-powered home! Setting it up was super easy—just plug it in, fire up the Alexa app, and you’re ready to go. I love how seamlessly it integrates with Alexa; controlling my devices with voice commands makes everyday tasks so much more convenient. Whether it’s getting my coffee maker brewing in the morning or setting routines for my lights, this plug handles it all without a hitch. That said, I did notice a couple of limitations. The Smart Plug only works with Alexa, so if you’re using Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit, you’re out of luck. Also, it doesn’t have energy monitoring features, which is something I would’ve liked to track my power usage.Overall, if you’re already in the Alexa ecosystem and want a budget-friendly way to start automating your home, the Amazon Smart Plug is a reliable choice. It’s simple to use and functional, definitely earning a solid 4-star rating from me!

So, there’s a few pros and cons. I got these to be able to turn my office on my way to work. Sometimes they do disconnect from the wifi and need to be reset. Or randomly do have issues. Quick fixes but hinders the use and ability to do what it’s supposed to. Remote turning on. If the wifi goes down, or anything they are also not available to turn on unless manually. The pros are obviously the remote functioning from the app you can turn them on anywhere. Makes it very useful for my table warmer for work, and my other items that need to warm up. I can turn my sauna on, and heat it up so I don’t have to go into work early.

I love these things so much, I have them all over my room. First off I have one hooked to my fan so that I can use my alexa to turn my fan on and off. I also have a lizard and if you have a pet where you have to constantly turn the day and night lights off and on each day then you know how much of a pain it is. I have 2 of them (each hooked up to a light) and I have them scheduled in the app the automatically turn on and off for me. They have amazing functionality in all use cases and they arnt hard to setup at all, even my grandma and grandpa can set them up without my help. I absolutely love these and I will definitely buy more. It’s a must buy!!!

It doesn’t do anything crazy above standard. But it connects to my google home and I am able to turn it off and on from my google home or my home app. I use it for my lamps/lights in my room. Gets the job done. Easy to setup.

Great for being able to put things on a schedule. I use them for my fish tank light on a schedule, tell my roommate vaccuum to go and great for holiday decorations throughout the house. I got the outdoor one as well for the lights too. No more unplugging or looking for the extension cord on/off switch. Best part is you can always control it on your phone in your Alexa app.

I LOVE my smart plug. It can be used for so many things. I used it for my string lights in my room. I was able to put them on a schedule so they would turn on in the morning and off at night. I love that you can control it from the app even if you don’t have other compatible devices like an echo dot. So easy to use
